What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural, non-psychoactive concentrate extracted from hemp. Hemp oil is packed with vitamins, minerals, volatile acids, omega-3-fatty acids, terpenes and antioxidants that provide natural therapeutic benefits.
The reason that CBD is such an effective form of support for human health is due to the body’s endogenous cannabinoid system. Our bodies have millions of cannabinoid receptors in the brain and nervous system, which react not only to plant-derived cannabinoids (such as hemp) but also to natural cannabinoids produced within our body. When hemp oil is used and processed by the body, it is effectively boosting the function of the endocannabinoid system, helping our body regulate itself in many different ways.
Our CBD products may help with:
- Chronic pain and inflammation
- Sleep disorders and insomnia
- Anxiety, stress, and depression
- Skin conditions
- Poor metabolic function
- Weaker immune system
- Energy and focus
Our organic hemp oil is extracted from high-CBD, low-THC cannabis, it doesn’t produce psychoactive effects the way THC does, making it a safe and legal option for all age groups and demographics. It will not get you high.
Our products come from sustainable hemp that is Non-GMO and cultivated without pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers, so our quality and safety starts with our hemp plants. From the time our hemp oil is harvested to the manufacturing and shipping of our products, our hemp oil is Triple Lab Tested to ensure accuracy in potency information and to check for contaminants like pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, and mold. A supercritical CO2 method is used to extract our hemp oil instead of harsh chemical solvents. CO2 extraction is an extraction process that uses pressurized carbon dioxide (CO2) to extract phytochemicals (such as CBD, CBG, or terpenes, flavonoids, etc.) from a plant. CO2 at certain temperatures and pressures acts like a solvent, without the dangers of actually being one. It is the most expensive extraction method and is widely considered the most effective and safest plant extraction method and is generally regarded as safe (GRAS) by the FDA.
Tinctures, Capsules, Edibles, Vape. How do I know which one to take or use?
CBD can be absorbed by the body through a variety of methods -- it can be ingested via tinctures, capsules, and edibles or inhaled via vaping. Each method has its own bioavailability -- the degree and rate at which a substance is absorbed into the bloodstream.
Edibles and Capsules- are typically lower in dosage and take longer to get into your bloodstream. The effects typically last about 4 - 6 hours.
Tinctures are more direct than edibles or capsules and consequently, gets into the bloodstream much faster and remains there for a longer period of time. The effects typically last between 8-12 hours.
Vaping enters the bloodstream directly via the lungs producing the fastest absorption rate, but doesn’t last as long as tinctures. The effects of vaping will typically last for 3 - 5 hours.
So what’s the right choice for you? It depends on how quickly you want or need it to enter your system, your body chemistry, and your personal preference.
Benefits of CBD
Studies have shown CBD helps alleviate pain associated with arthritis, multiple sclerosis, chronic pain, and certain cancers. CBD can also be effective in reducing the symptoms associated with epilepsy, seizures, anxiety, insomnia, smoking cessation, digestion, and acne.
What dosage should I start with?
Unlike other supplements, the FDA has not created a Recommended Daily Intake for CBD. Cannabis, like many herbs, is a very individualized experience. Genetics, metabolism, body mass, diet, environment, product potency and consistency all play a part. For some, a little goes a long way; for others, it may take more to produce the desired effect -- much like aspirin or any other pain reliever.
If you’re new to CBD, it’s best to start out with small doses and move up from there to determine the ideal dosage for your particular needs and body chemistry. A dose between 10 - 25 mg twice a day is a good starting place and is typically enough to provide relief from a number of ailments.
While it’s not an exact science, a good rule of thumb is to take 1 - 6 mg of CBD for every 10 lbs of body weight and level of pain. Adjust the amount you take every few days until you find the dosage that provides the relief you’re seeking.
If you decide to try CBD, we encourage you to talk with your doctor.
